What did you want to become when you were a kid? A firefighter? Baseball player? An online game creator?
How about an accountant?! No? Anyone? Most kids may not dream of becoming an accountant, but some of them love numbers, math, and balancing things out, so you never know… I was one of those kids. I am now a Certified Public Accountant at Capital and Worth.
WHAT MAKES ACCOUNTANTS HAPPY
My passion lies in digging into the nuances of:
- New tax codes
- Financial planning regulations
- Investment strategies
- Retirement distribution laws
It’s challenging. It’s engrossing. It’s kind of fun for me.
While friends of mine were craving Legos and Atari for Christmas gifts (I’m showing my age, huh?), I was perfectly happy with my ledger book and a new #2 lead pencil to record my allowance and how I wanted to save, spend or invest it.
ANNUITIES, ACCRUALS & ADJUSTED GROSS INCOMES –
THE PERFECT TRIFECTA FOR ACCOUNTANTS
The nitty-gritty work of collecting numbers in columns and expenses and income on spreadsheets is rewarding. But in all honesty, the real satisfaction comes in knowing that I help others who probably do not have the same fascination with numbers, and that I do what I love.
While others may shy away from ‘annuities, accruals, and adjusted gross income’, I heartily throw myself at them, hankering to acquire new information in taxation and financial planning.
As we approach April 15, I can say with much enthusiasm:
- New tax code? Bring it on!
- Change in investment policies? No problem.
- Itemized deductions list? Let me at ‘em.
TAX SEASON IS OUR FAVORITE TIME OF YEAR AT CAPITAL AND WORTH
At Capital and Worth, I work with a bunch of folks who enjoy accounting too, so I’m not alone in my fondness of numbers. We’re a “Yahoo! It’s tax season!” kind-of-people. So, while some kids dream of becoming a doctor, lawyer or professional athlete, I am living my dream of the number-crunching type of day, helping others with checks and balances. And I couldn’t be happier.
